Town sold Egypt international Morsy, 28, to Wigan in 2016 and it is believed they have a 10 per cent sell-on clause on any fee above £200,000.
The cash-strapped Latics, who were relegated to League One last season after entering administration and suffering a 12-point deduction, have been forced to sell a number of key players during the summer and Morsy looks set to be the next one to leave.

The reports also suggest that Morsy is keen on a move to Boro.
In normal circumstances, Morsy would probably command a fee of between £1.5m and £2.5m but the Latics have accepted much lower offers for some of their star players such as Antonee Robinson who was sold to Fulham for as little as £2m despite almost joining Italian giants AC Milan for £10m in January before the deal fell through because Robinson was found to have an 'irregularity with his heart rhythm'.
The community trust will of course be hoping that Wigan hold out for a decent fee so they benefit especially after missing out on money for Liam Cooper.

"In a time of social distancing and with fans of clubs in steps 1 and 2 still locked out of grounds, it doesn't seem appropriate," a statement said.
