The 25-year-old joined the Spireites on loan from the Magpies earlier this month but returned to Meadow Lane after just one week because of an injury to County stopper Sam Slocombe.
Town caretaker manager John Pemberon today revealed that a deal to bring Fitzsimons back to the Proact could be completed by the end of this week.

The stopper would not have been able to play for Chesterfield against County this Saturday anyway due to the terms of the loan deal.
"I am hoping that we can get him back - that is a big possibility,” Pemberton said.
"Ross is desperate to come back and we are desperate to have him back and hopefully we can get that finalised.

"I don't want to take him unless they (County) can cancel the 24-hour callback so if they don't do that I won't be taking him. I have already told them that.
"Hopefully it should all get finalised by the end of this week.”
On Fitzsimons being recalled by County last week, Pemberton added: "They are in their rights to do it (call him back) that is not a problem but I don't want to get stung with that again."
