Caldwell claims ignorance on Ched Evans' move to Sheffield United
The Chesterfield boss says he’s been entirely focused on preparing his squad for Sunday’s fixture, somewhat ironically at Bramall Lane against the Blades.
Evans is expected to make the move back to United once a medical has been completed, with a fee said to be agreed between the two clubs.
Caldwell claims ignorance.
He said: “I’m not sure would be the honest answer.

“I’ve not thought about him all week and I won’t think about him until after the game.
“Nothing has happened, Ched is still a Chesterfield player. Until that changes, we’re focused on training and preparing for a big game.
“When it happens we’ll speak to the press and let the fans know.”

Hide AdCaldwell doesn’t think the speculation in both local and national press circles, has had any affect on his side before the season finale against the League One champions.
But there’s little doubt that the squad, whatever it looks like, will be without Evans when pre-season begins for the Spireites.
The Chesterfield boss would have liked to have got more game time and more goals from the former Welsh international but still believes there’s more to come from Evans.
This season’s fitness struggles for Evans have not overly surprised Caldwell, however.

“From not playing football it’s difficult to come in and hit the ground running for a full season.
“I think his body has found the effects of that difficult, I think a summer and a pre-season will help him kick on again for next season.
“If he wants to apply himself and work hard, he has the qualities a centre forward needs to be successful.”
