But the sizzling Spireites served up a fine second-half comeback to win 2-1 and clinch a famous League Two title win.
In the process the players on show that day wrote their name into club folklore during a day no-one will forget.
A decade on history is repeating itself with Spireites poised to lift the National League title.

1. Tommy Lee
Lee played for Chesterfield for nine seasons, appearing in more than 350 matches before his retirement due to a shoulder injury in 2017. 2. Drew Talbot

3. Nathan Smith
An injury-hit campaign meant that Smith only started 12 League games in Chesterfield's League 2 Championship season. He moved to Yeovil at the end of the season and continued to play for a nunber of non-league clubs Braintree, Enfield and Concord Rangers. Photo: Chris Etchells
4. Ritchie Humphreys
Ritchie Humphreys was named caretaker manager of the club following the sacking of Danny Wilson on 8 January 2017. He rejected the opportunity to join the coaching staff at Chesterfield, and instead signed with Northern Premier League Division One South club Sheffield.
