The Met Office this morning issued a yellow ‘be aware’ alert lasting until noon on Saturday.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Snow accumulations are likely to mount up on hills, with around ten to 15 centimetres for some areas above 300 metres.

“Ice will be an additional hazard on untreated surfaces.
“The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to travel.”
In addition, the Met Office warned there is a 90 per cent chance of severe cold weather until noon on Tuesday.
Public Health England is urging people to keep warm indoors, to look out for others and to take care when walking on icy or wet surfaces when out and about.
