Chesterfield drivers urged to take care as drain bursts amid Met Office warning of storms and floods

The Met Office has warned drivers in Chesterfield that, with a yellow warning currently in place for thunderstorms, spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
Residents in Brimington have already reported problems – with a drain at the junction between Queen Street and Princess Street bursting, gushing considerable amounts of water onto the roads.

Hide AdThe yellow weather warning was issued earlier this morning, and will remain active until 1.00pm today (Thursday, October 20).
Some places could see between 20mm and 40mm of rain within an hour – and there is a chance that homes and businesses will be hit by quick flooding. This could also lead to delays and cancellations for those travelling by train.
