Two Derbyshire men hospitalised after serious crash in Cumbria
Cumbria Police are investigating a serious road collision which occurred on the A66 eastbound near Penrith on Thursday morning.
The incident involved a Vauxhall Vivaro van and a HGV. Both drivers suffered serious injuries and were taken to the Cumberland Infirmary by ambulance.

Hide AdA Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The driver of the van, a 23-year-old man from Alfreton, Derbyshire, was transferred by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Newcastle and is in a in a critical condition.
“The driver of the HGV, a 50-year-old man from Alvaston, Derby, sustained chest injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.”
The incident happened near Brougham and the A66 remained closed until around midday while police carried out investigation work, cleared the scene and recovered the vehicles.
