Congestion on M1 in Derbyshire following lorry oil spill that caused lanes to close
and live on Freeview channel 276
Highways England temporarily closed two lanes of traffic between Junctions 29 and 28 on the M1 earlier today (Friday, August 13) following the incident.
Recovery workers removed the lorry which caused the spillage and the oil has now been cleared off the carriageway.

Hide AdAll lanes are now reopen on the motorway southbound, however some congestion remains between Junctions 29A and 29.
Highways England have warned there could be delays of 25 minutes in the area following the temporary lane closure.
Motorists are urged to plan additional time to complete their journeys.
In a tweet, Highways England East Midlands wrote: “UPDATE - #M1 southbound between J29 (#Heath #A617) and J28 (#Broadmeadows #A38). All lanes have reopened. Delays of 25 minutes remain in the area. Please allow additional time for your journey this morning.”
