Top Peak District restaurant keeps Michelin star status
Fischer’s at Baslow Hall has retained its Michelin star in the Great Britain and Ireland Michelin Guide 2015, published last week.
The accreditation has been awarded to the restaurant fo r’very good cooking, placing it alongside the greatest eateries in the country.

Hide AdAmy Wilkinson, sales and marketing manager, said: “We have had the Michelin star since 1994.
“The criteria for Michelin stars has changed each year so it’s quite and achievement to keep it year after year.
“The food terms are changing all the time, there’s lots to do with seasonality, which we are always keen to do, but also the cooking techniques are always changing.
“Having a Michelin star is the best accolade that we can have and it brings a lot of people to us.”

Hide AdShe said Fischer’s refers to itself as a ‘restaurant with rooms’ and head chef Rupert Rowley has been there since 2002.
Amy said the restaurant grows its own vegetables in the garden, which feature heavily in the menu, and it even has its own bee hives thanks to an agreement with the Sheffield Honey Company.
“We have about 500,000 bees,” Amy said, adding that the guests don’t even know they are there.
The restaurant gets many visitors who return year after year, however they are getting a new wave of people coming to stay.

Hide AdAmy said: “We are seeing a huge new clientèle coming in of young working professionals.”
The Michelin guide also recognised Fischer’s for the level of comfort it provides.
