Sister rushed to save brother but too late
South Derbyshire Coroner’s Court heard how David Michael Donald Godber, 44, of Broadway, Heanor, was pronounced dead at his home on April 29.
Mr Godber’s sister, Tammy, told deputy coroner Louise Pinder how she and a friend had forced entry to his room at the address when they found it locked and then called the police.

Hide AdPC Adam Kempin told the court how he had found Mr Godber when he entered the room at about 10.50am after receiving a call from Ms Godber.
He added: “The room was small and Mr Godber was visible as soon as I went in.
“There were a number of empty Vodka bottles in the room.”
He said David had spent the previous night with Tammy where they had eaten together before he returned home.
Ms Godber told the court how she had spoken to her brother at 8.50am that morning, adding, ‘he was gone by the time I got to mum’s - I could sense it.’

Hide AdPC Kempin said: “The telephone call she had with David raised concern and that is why she attended.”
The police officer told the court how a message for friends and family was displayed on a computer monitor in Mr Godber’s room and he had talked about taking his own life on numerous occasions with family members in the past.
Ms Pinder concluded that Mr Godber had taken his own life and the cause of death was hanging.
