Review: Fatal Encounter at Nottingham Theatre Royal
As well as spot-on clothes, décor and hairstyles, there’s incidental music straight out of 1960s TV cop shows, which the play itself also resembles, with short scenes and tense cliffhangers.
The cast of eight is professional and proficient to the core. There’s a wonderfully flamboyant performance from Jacqueline Gilbride as a sophisticated socialite, a delicious cameo from Adrian Lloyd-James as a laidback wide boy, and Andrew Ryan is centre stage as a confused publisher trying to get to the bottom of a mystery that keeps deepening.
