“The site is located in the centre of a residential and commercial area where there are local amenities, good access roads and transport links.
“This lends the site to a residential development.
“The proposed units are to all be 24-hour assisted living units.
“There is an identified need in Chesterfield for this type of accommodation.
“The units seek to address this.”

It is one of a number of schemes currently under construction in Chesterfield – proving that the area is not standing still in the pandemic.
As reported last year, nearly 50 garages had to be demolished to allow the development to take place – causing controversy.
Talking to the Derbyshire Times last year, Dan Gazzard, a director at Chesterfield SSL Ltd, said: “We’ve followed the law, we’ve provided people with notice and we’ve acted fairly in giving people access to and from the site.
