Councillor Tricia Gilby, leader of the borough council, told the Derbyshire Times earlier this month that the projects would ‘deliver thousands of new jobs to the town and borough both during the construction phases and once works are complete’.
Chesterfield Waterside – which is one of the UK's largest regeneration projects and is expected to create up to 2,000 jobs – promises to eventually feature five neighbourhoods including housing, offices, shops, a hotel, a multi-storey car park and a new canal basin.
