Chesterfield couple reveal secret to 70 years of wedded bliss

Hilda and Leonard (who is better known as Len) Jagger will celebrate their platinum wedding anniversary at home on Wednesday.
The pair met through friends in Chesterfield town centre and went on to fall in love before tying the knot at St Bartholomew Church in Old Whittington on October 28, 1950.

Hide AdBoth 88-year-old Hilda and 90-year-old Len, of Keswick Drive, Newbold, worked hard in factories in Whittington Moor throughout their lives.
Len was employed in various roles by well-known companies including Lamp Caps and Pearson's Pottery.
The couple have four sons, Martin, Leon, Graham and Steven, and four grandchildren, Andrea, Danny, Alex and Tom.
Len has always enjoyed watching horse racing and both like spending time in the garden in their spare time.

Hide AdGiving the secret to a long and happy marriage, the dedicated husband and wife said: “It’s very simple really. Make sure you never go to bed on an argument – that’s the key.”
Their son Martin said: “Because of the coronavirus pandemic, their celebration will be rather low key – they’ll be having a meal at home which I’m sure they will both enjoy.
“We all hope to celebrate with them when everything to do with Covid is over – and we look forward to that.
“They are wonderful parents and we all wish them a very happy platinum wedding anniversary.”
