New funding for Chesterfield police pubwatch radio transmitter
It’s as the radio mast which supports a number of projects which help keep the town safe by providing a communication link with the police, Pubwatch, Shopwatch, the Pavements Security and the Street Pastor volunteers, needs to be relocated from the multi-storey car park on Saltergate.
Work to demolish the Saltergate car park and replace it with a modern 24-hour a day multi-storey car park began in February, as part of part of the wider Northern Gateway project for Chesterfield.

Superintendent Michelle Shooter, who is the lead for operational policing in Chesterfield, Derbyshire Dales, North East Derbyshire, Bolsover, Amber Valley and the High Peak said: “The radio mast supports a vital communication link up between stores, licensed premises, security staff, volunteers and officers who work together to keep communities safe. It enables a real time exchange of information between the business community and the Police Service which enables a more effective joined up response to issues.
“By re-locating the mast we hope to enable this valuable service for the town and the surrounding areas for the future.”
