Hide AdA spokesperson for Marks & Spencer said: “We are looking to bring an M&S Food Hall to Matlock and have reached an agreement with the Co-operative for its store on Crown Square.
“We look forward to bringing our outstanding quality, innovative food to the area and will confirm more details soon.”
A Co-operative Food spokesperson confirmed the sale of the store and added: “The Co-operative Group’s strategy will see us continue to invest in the portfolio through the acquisition of 100 new convenience stores this year.
“This approach includes selling a number of larger stores as we focus on our core convenience estate.”
But the Co-op added that there is a convenience store ‘no more than a quarter of a mile away’ on Firs Parade.
Marks & Spencer will reveal more details in due course.
