Firefighters from Alfreton, Clay Cross and Nottinghamshire’s Ashfield Station attended the fire on High Street, Tibshelf at 12.47am on Monday (May 18) following a call from a neighbour who had seen smoke coming from the front door.

The casualty was handed into the care of paramedics and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where sadly he passed away yesterday.
A spokesperson for the Service said: “The thoughts and sympathy of everyone at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service are extended to the family and friends of the deceased at this distressing time.”
A joint police and fire investigation determined the fire was accidental, most likely due to smoking materials.
