Shirebrook man punched his father 20 times to the head because he wouldn't take him to buy drugs

Duncan Martin Cyril Elmore appeared before Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, September 24, where he admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court heard that Elmore punched his father, Stephen Elmore, around 20 times to his head when the incident occurred at their home in Alder Way on April 16 this year.

Hide AdProsecuting, Sarah Haslam said: “Police saw the complainant when they attended the home and they said that his head was covered in blood and he was holding a towel to it which was also drenched in blood.
“He told officers he had been attacked by his own son because he was angry because he would not take him to get some drugs. He had been hit to the head in the region of 20 times.
“The defendant made admissions at the scene that he had assaulted his father and he had dried blood on his knuckles.”
The court heard that Elmore, aged 30, had previous convictions for making threats to kill in 2018 and a sexual assault dating back to 2014.

Hide AdMitigating, David Gittins said: “He accepts that he was in drink at the time of the offence but he can’t recall what happened, and he must have done what his father said he did.”
Magistrates gave Elmore a 26-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered him to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £128 victim surcharge.
