Chesterfield woman handed Slavery and Trafficking Risk Order to prevent exploitation

The civil order was granted against Rasa Zubaviciute on Thursday 30 July at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court.
The order, which lasts for five years, means the 46-year-old of Chatsworth Road, in Chesterfield is bound by five conditions to prevent her from exploiting people into forced work, which will result in a criminal prosecution if breached.

Hide AdZubaviciute is forbidden from arranging accommodation for anyone other than immediate family, possessing passports, bank cards or documents of any other person.
She is also unable to employ anyone to work for her without notifying police and ensuring the workers in question are paid the national minimum wage.
Detective Constable Danielle Jewitt from Derbyshire Constabulary’s dedicated Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Unit said: “The order imposed in this case is a means to prevent crime and safeguard potential victims from labour exploitation.
“Modern slavery is a key priority for Derbyshire Constabulary and our partners, and we are determined to do all we can to disrupt the individuals and criminal networks involved in modern slavery and human trafficking.
