Chesterfield residents urged to secure their homes by police after spike in burglaries across the area

October has seen an increase in dwelling burglaries across the Chesterfield area.
Officers have reported that most of these break-ins have occurred overnight, with offenders smashing glass or snapping lock cylinders to access properties from the rear.

Hide AdResidents were urged to review their security, consider anti-snap locks and limit access to the rear of their property where possible.
They were also encouraged to keep valuables, including car keys, out of sight – and to ensure any alarms or CCTV cameras were switched on and functioning.
