Morgan Andrew, 22, and dad Martin Andrew were at Sevens on Stephensons Place when the skirmish unfolded at about 2am on August 23 last year.
Prosecutor Peter Bettany told Chesterfield Magistrates Court the pair were thrown out of the nightspot after a “dispute with a young lady” because one of them had not registered in-line with Covid-safety rules.

Hide AdMr Bettany described how, after the duo were taken outside “with some struggling”, son Morgan punched a taxi driver who had approached to help staff deal with the fracas.
Morgan Andrew’s punch left the driver on the ground with snapped glasses and bleeding.
The victim described the younger Andrew standing over him while being “extremely threatening”.
Steve Brint, defending Morgan Andrew, told magistrates the row “turned nasty” after a group of people “literally forced” the Andrews out of the pub.

Hide AdMr Brint told how Morgan Andrew - appearing via video link from prison - was already in custody awaiting sentence at Derby Crown Court after admitting supplying class A drugs on another occasion after the Sevens incident.
The lawyer said the 22-year-old’s circumstances had “changed dramatically” since August last year and if a custodial sentence was imposed a judge at his crown court hearing would not accept a community order.
Morgan Andrew, of School Board Lane, Chesterfield, admitted assault by beating. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation to his victim.
