Chesterfield anti-lockdown protester prosecuted after arrest at mass gathering at demo

Christine Spalding, aged 57, of Wharf Lane, Chesterfield, was arrested at a protest in Sheffield city centre in November 2020 for breaching Covid regulations by participating in a mass gathering.
Spalding was convicted of the breach, given a conditional discharge and fined.

Hide AdThere were a number of mass gatherings in Sheffield during the coronavirus pandemic, with protesters demonstrating against lockdown restrictions.
Inspector Ali Bywater said: “Christine Spalding, 57-years-old, of Wharf Lane, Chesterfield, was convicted at court last month.
“This was following her arrest at a protest in Sheffield city centre on Saturday, November 14, 2020, for participation in a gathering in a public outdoor place of more than two people in England under the Coronavirus legislation.
“She was part of a city centre protest on that date.
“Spalding was convicted of the offence and given a conditional discharge and a fine.”
