Buxton’s got talent
Reverend Andrew Parker held a talent weekend at Buxton Methodist Church last Friday, Saturday and Sunday where parishioners displayed their homemade handiwork.
With two thirds of his flock revealing hidden talents, the Chapel Street church was a hotbed of skill, as bakers showed off their cakes, painters displayed their artwork and knitters flaunted their woolly designs.

“It was lovely because some of the parish have known each other for ten to 20 years and they were saying ‘Oh, I didn’t know so-and-so could paint!’ They’ve all been sitting on their talents.”
He explained that the idea for the event came from attending an art exhibition by church goers in Earl Sterndale.
“We thought, we could have a go at that and it just sort of snowballed from there,” Andrew added. “We were so surprised at how many people came forward. We’ll certainly look at doing it again next year.”
