Buxton man admits breaching sex offence order
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Friday, January 2, how Paul Brindley, 27, of Fairfield Road, Buxton, was required to regularly register at a police station but failed to do so for eight weeks.
Prosecuting solicitor Michael Treharne said: “Someone who is on the register without a fixed address has to register regularly at a police station but Brindley stopped reporting in November. Police have great concerns when someone goes missing and is not kept tabs on.”

Hide AdBrindley turned up at a police station on New Year’s Eve complaining he had suffered a head injury following an alleged assault and it was then, according to Mr Treharne, that police realised the defendant had been failing to register.
He told police he knew he should have been signing on and claimed he had not done so for about four or five weeks and explained he was now staying with a friend.
The defendant added that he had not been regularly registering because he feared the friend he was now living with would find out about the sex offenders’ prevention order.
Brindley pleaded guilty to breaching the sex offenders’ prevention order between November 3 and December 31.

Defence solicitor Katie Fowkes argued Brindley’s new address would be suitable for conditional bail.
Magistrates warned Brindley that custody could be justified and adjourned his case for a hearing at Buxton magistrates’ court on January 26.
