Burglars caught in car with loot
Derby Crown Court heard how Robert Smith, 28, and Gavin Collins, 32, burgled a house and three outbuildings in Newton.
Police said the pair went into a house on Alfreton Road while the owner was sleeping and stole items including a bag and laptop. They also broke into outbuildings on South Street, Main Road and North Street.

Hide AdSmith and Collins were arrested the following morning after they were found in a car on Cragg Lane, Newton, with items stolen items. Smith of Haddon Street, Tibshelf, and Collins, of King Street, Tibshelf, both pleaded guilty to four counts of burglary.
Smith was jailed for 12 months and Collins received a 34 month sentence, last month. Smith must also pay a £100 victim surcharge and Collins must pay a £120 victim surcharge after the offences in July.
