The son of a well known Heanor man who died last year is doing a 50 mile sponsored walk in his memory.
John March, who was born in Heanor and worked as a history teacher in Belper for 20 years before sitting on the Derbyshire Dales District Council for the Masson ward for 12 years, died last August of bowel cancer.

Now his son Jack will walk the Limestone Way from Rocester to Castleton this weekend to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund which helps to pay for bowel cancer research.

Jack March said: "My dad was an active member of the Derbyshire community throughout his life so on the one year anniversary of his death, I plan to walk the Limestone Way to commemorate his life and to raise funds for the Bobby Moore Fund.

The walk takes place this weekend, Saturday August 23 and Sunday 24. To sponsor Jack go to www.justgiving.com/jackmarch.
