Rare bird returns to Carsington
The Great Northern Diver had missed a winter and it was feared that it may not return.
However, Severn Trent Water ranger John Matkin said: “Last year was Carsington’s first winter when a Great Northern Diver hadn’t landed at the site. When November came it was feared this may be the second year when it didn’t return, but we were delighted when the rare bird was spotted slightly later than usual, in December. Bird watchers now flock to Carsington to see the Diver and add it to their year’s list or just to get good views of this beautiful bird.”
