Coronavirus death toll rises as six more Chesterfield Royal Hospital patients die from virus

Today’s daily statistics confirmed that there has been six further deaths of patients who tested positive for Covid-19 in Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
Across the country, figures released by NHS England this afternoon (January 26) show that 875 fatalities were recorded in England hospitals in the 24 hours to 4pm on Monday, January 25 and six were in Chesterfield.

The latest fatalities across the country has increased the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England up to 67,921.
Deaths ranged from December 17 to January 25, 2021 with the majority being on or after January 16 – taking into account the time taken for positive results to be received and also the potential factors in a delay between a death happening and a death being recorded.
Patients were aged between 33 and 101 years old according to NHS England.

Hide AdAll except 21 people who lost their lives to the virus and were aged 52 to 93 years old had known underlying health conditions.
The most recent data represents the number of deaths of hospital patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 in the previous 28 days and whose deaths were recorded in the latest official reporting period.
Last year NHS England and NHS Improvement began reporting the number of patient deaths where there has been no positive test result for coronavirus but the virus is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death in the death certification process.
The latest reporting period reveals that there were 34 such fatalities in England.

Hide AdA total of 130 patients across all settings in Chesterfield have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 up to Monday, January 25 according to Government data.
The total fatalities in the town equates to 123.9 deaths per 100,000 people since the pandemic began, with the highest daily total being four deaths on two separate days – January 14, and 16, 2021.
Data from the Office for National Statistics also shows there have been 120 deaths recorded in Chesterfield where the death certificate mentioned coronavirus as one of the causes.
