On what would have been the fundraising legend’s 101st birthday, staff at Graysons Solicitors baked and sold 100 cupcakes, raising £100 for the Derbyshire Asbestos Support Team.
Belinda Lancaster, a partner in the Saltergate business, who took part in Chesterfield’s traditional May Day March in support of the charity, said: “We are always looking for ways to raise awareness and funds to support asbestos charities. Sir Tom’s birthday seemed the perfect opportunity.”

Sir Tom shot to fame last year when his aim to walk 100 lengths of his garden before his 100th birthday, to raise £1,000 for NHS Charities Together at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, caught the nation’s imagination, leading to him raising more than £32 million.
The former Army captain was knighted for his efforts, but died in February.
