Derbyshire man took his own life at quarry

Martin James Harrison, aged 44, of London Road, Buxton, was discovered on February 18, 2019, near Far Hill Quarry, Harpur Hill.
The inquest held at Chesterfield Town Hall heard the cause of death was bleeding from the lung and polytrauma.

Hide AdRecording a verdict of suicide, Derbyshire assistant coroner Tanyka Rawden said Mr Harrison had indicted ‘via a text message he intended to end his life’.
The coroner told the inquest it was ‘likely, given the location he was found and the content of the text message’ that he intentionally took his life.
Mr Harrison was a welder and had been born in Chapel-en-le-Frith.
The inquest was heard behind closed doors on Tuesday, April 28 because of restrictions imposed during the coronavirus pandemic.
