Young movie fans join top film project
Ten-year-olds Tommy Austin and Finley Bestwick, who attend Heage Primary School, applied to go on the Into Film’s Talent Development Programme in March to further develop their interest in film.
The youngsters, who applied by submitting an audition tape citing their passion for movies, were accepted onto the programme from hundreds of applicants in May.

Hide AdThe programme is part of Into Film, a nationwide education charity supported by the British Film Industry, which gets National Lottery funding.
Through the programme the youngsters will gain expert training and hands-on experience in film reviewing, interviewing film industry professionals, and reporting from film events and red-carpet premieres.
Speaking about why he auditioned for the programme Finley said: “I auditioned for the programme because I want to interview famous people and find out more about them.
“The most exciting thing about the programme would definitely be meeting famous people!”

Hide AdTommy said: “I really enjoyed the day and getting to meet people I wouldn’t normally see every day. I especially liked the research and prep session because we got to work together as a team.”
Golden Globe and BAFTA award winning actress and Into Film supporter Julie Walters, of Calendar Girls and Educating Rita fame, heaped praise on the project.
She said: “What an amazing opportunity Into Film is giving these young people. Learning new skills, putting those into practice and interacting close-up with professionals will raise their aspirations and help them believe in themselves, which could really enhance their lives.”
