Flood-hit property owners are offered grants for protection work
T he Property Flood Resilience Grant of up to £5,000 per property can fund measures to protect properties. The cash is intended to cover things like moving electrical wall sockets higher up walls or providing flood doors to reduce water entering the property.
It can also cover things like putting in air brick covers, self-closing air bricks, water resistant plaster and the replacement of suspended timber floors with concrete floors.

Hide AdThe grants are only available in certain areas. Those in Amber Valley, Derbyshire Dales, Chesterfield and South Derbyshire who were flooded in November 2019 have until October 31 to apply for funding.
Those in Erewash, who were flooded in February 2020 have until November 30 to apply for the cash.
Councillor Simon Spencer, Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet member for Highways, Transport and Infrastructure, said: “The floods had a devastating effect on many households, residents and businesses and this money will help to protect properties from future flooding.
“I’d encourage anyone affected to apply for financial support so they can put in measures that will help should they be flooded again.”
