Dramatic pictures show Chesterfield firefighters battling disused building fire

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the building, at Friar Gate Goods Yard in Derby, at around 1:13am this morning (Tuesday, May 26).
Three fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms, a high volume pump, a water carrier, a command support unit and a welfare unit were in attendance, supported by crews from Chesterfield, Kingsway, Ilkeston, Belper, Ascot Drive, Long Eaton and Ashbourne.

Hide AdFirefighters are using water from Markeaton Brook to douse the fire after smoke was seen billowing all over the city.
Nobody is reported to have been in the building when the fire broke out.
Stafford Street, Uttoxeter New Road, Agard Street, Friar Gate and Great Northern Road have been closed.
The Fire Service urged people to avoid the area and be reminded of social distancing restrictions.
