DRAMATIC PICTURES: Crash scene after head-on collision caused serious injuries on Mansfield Road
The carnage resulted from a head-on collision on the A616 Mansfield Road near Creswell, Derbyshire, at around 7:30am this morning (March 30).
In a combined effort by Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue services, Derbyshire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service, the main road through Creswell was closed for hours following the smash, which left one man in serious condition.

Hide AdAir ambulance were called to airlift the male driver to Northern General Hospital and hydraulic and cutting equipment were used to extricate him.
Derbyshire Police said: "The incident involved a Vauxhall Corsa and a Ford Mondeo in a head-on collision. We closed the road at about 9am. Fire services and air ambulance were in attendance and took a males to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield with serious leg injuries."
Firefighters said: "One person was trapped and had to be extricated from a vehicle. Four people were taken to hospital by ambulance."
Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue said: "Firefighters from both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire worked together to perform a roof removal and a side removal on one of the vehicles to extricate one man from a car. Three others individuals self-rescued and all four were taken to hospital.
