Criminally charitable
The offenders were drafted into Bakewell’s Newholme Hospital hospital where they got involved in crafts and other fundraising activities.
The collaboration – which was organised by sisters Lorraine Turner, an occupational therapist at Newholme Hospital and Joy Fox, community payback supervisor with Derbyshire Probation – helped the hospital to reach its target of £600 for a new chair-bed for relatives of patients with dementia.

“The offenders really enjoyed helping out too and I was surprised at how many of them have, or had, relatives with some degree of dementia.”
