Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit said they were on a mission to target ‘contumacious’ drivers failing to adhere to the speed limit in Tupton today (April 22).
A Mini driver was captured speeding at 51 mph on Station New Road, a 30 mph zone, this morning.

Hide AdOfficers joked there was ‘no time for a brew’ as they will be making the road ‘a regular haunt’ of theirs as part of their operation to get drivers to slow down.

Users on social media made fun of the force’s use of contumacious – an archaic word to describe someone’s refusal to obey authority.
One person commented: “Had to look up that word! Going to try to get it into conversation at some point today!”
While another person added: “Someone's been eating the dictionary for breakfast - you've consumed the contumacies!”
