Drink driver spotted by police doing 10mph on Derbyshire Road on Christmas Day

Natasha Yvonne Stott was spotted by officers driving erratically around the island over the motorway at Junction 28 of the M1 at South Normanton, Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court was told on Wednesday, January 22.
Stott, 24, of Ivy Grove, Ripley, blew 94 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath, when the legal limit is 35.

Hide AdProsecuting, Becky Allsop said: “At around 8.40 in the evening on Christmas Day, police say the vehicle travelling erratically, fluctuating from walking pace to about 30 mph, when it turned onto the A38 heading towards Mansfield. She was then seen to slow down to about 10mph and almost collided with a barrier. The officer activated his emergency equipment but the vehicle continued for some time before pulling over in a bus stop. She had slurred speech and could hardly walk.”
Mitigating, Kevin Tomlinson said: “There was fortunately no accident - it was on Christmas Day and there was very little traffic on the roads.”
Stott, who admitted drink driving, was banned from driving for 24 months but was offered a drink drive rehabilitation course which would reduce the disqualification by 26 weeks of completed by May 23, 2021.
She was also given a nine-month community order to include five rehabilitation days and fined £80. Magistrates also ordered her to pay £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
