Chesterfield murder trial: Jury goes out to consider the fate of man accused of killing former soldier

Connor Rose, 25, is accused of the murder of Joseph Robothom, following an altercation outside Vibe Bar, in Holywell Street, in the town, in the early hours of Saturday, February 8 last year.
Rose smashed a bottle into the face of Mr Robotham, of Sheffield Road, Old Whittington, after the 25-year-old got into a fight with a friend of Rose’, identified in court as Adrian Strafford.

Hide AdMr Robotham was rendered unconscious by the blow, and fell heavily to the floor, banging his head on the ground and fracturing his skull.
He died of “devastating brain injuries” at Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital the following day.
Rose was arrested the day after the killing when he was identified on CCTV footage of the incident and initially claimed no knowledge of the incident but later admitted the manslaughter of Mr Robotham.
But he denies murder.
