Brampton Manor was given the go-ahead to hold the events after initial plans to show films from November onwards were put on hold by the national lockdown.
The cinema evenings got underway on Thursday, December 3 with screenings of Home Alone I and Die Hard, and are being described by organisers as ‘one chink of light’ for hospitality businesses after a gloomy year.

Brampton Manor did its bit to raise people's spirits after the national lockdown with a popular ‘Beach Club’ event meaning people didn't completely miss out on that holiday feeling this summer.
Now the venue, which dates back more than 400 years, is aiming to create an American vibe with its drive-in movies.
Brampton Manor’s managing director Craig Lynch said: “We feel it is important for people’s mental health and family lives to still have special things to look forward to."
Mr Lynch says he hopes further events can take place at Brampton Manor if Derbyshire moves out of Tier Three when restrictions are reviewed again on Wednesday, December 16.

"Of course we all hope this is temporary and the decline in cases means we can re-open our Winter Igloo Village after December 16 in time for Santa’s Grotto.
"However we still have something people can get out and experience before then safely and within the rules with the drive-in movies.”
As delivery of takeaway food and drinks is also permitted, Brampton Manor is providing a menu from its Christmas German Market selection. Families can pre-order from the menu and have meals delivered to their car.Unfortunately, the Winter Igloo Village that has been constructed for the Festive Season cannot be opened until restrictions allow.
