Chapterhouse Theatre Company tour Oscar Wilde's raucous tale of deception and disguise to Derbyshire
Chapterhouse Theatre Company will present their production at the Pavilion Arts Centre, Buxton, on Sunday, August 20, at 7.30pm.
The Importance of Being Earnest follows two bachelors, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, each of whom are attempting to win the hearts of young women who claim only to be capable of loving men named ‘Ernest’. When both Jack and Algernon assume alter-ego of that name, the lies start to spiral out of control and they struggle to keep their stories straight and their paths uncrossed. What unfolds is a raucous tale of deception, disguise, and misadventure, all swept towards an an explosive conclusion by Wilde’s expert pacing and cutting dialogue.
